08-13-18 The ride from Coos Bay was a success. We made it all the way downtown to the bike shop. The bikes will be stored there until they are picked up by a shipping company. On the way to Portland we came across an awesome air and space museum. Evergreen International put the museum together. The Spruce Goose was there. The “Spruce Goose” is an amazingly large flying boat. If you haven’t ever heard of it I recommend doing some research. It was built by Howard Hughes in 1947. Anyways, it feels weird not having a bike to worry about. We are headed home soon. 

08-12-18 Today we rode from Klamath, CA to Coos Bay, OR. Coos Bay is the official end to our trip. However, we need to make it to Portland tomorrow to drop off the bike and fly home. The ride today was just boring and cold. Can’t always be fun, but the trip overall was a great experience. I thank all of you for your donations and for following along with our trip it means a lot. 

08-11-18 Today we rode just south of Eureka, California from Crescent City. This is where the big redwoods are supposed to be, and big they were. The ride down was very chilly for me, mid 50 degree temperatures with constant fog keeping me slightly wet and made for a cold day. However, the ocean was very beautiful and different compared to the eastern coast. The fog and the trees make for an ominous yet beautiful background, almost like something you see in the movies. After seeing the trees we started to head back north and ended up in a town called Klamath, CA. 

08-10-18 Today we rode from Diamond Lake in Oregon to Crescent city, California. The original route doesn’t go into California. However, with time to spare until our flight in Portland we decided to go see the redwood trees in Northern California. The ride today was very nice with beautiful scenery. By the time we reached the coast the temperature had dropped from upper 90’s to low 60’s. We did see a few trees today. They were very large…

08-09-18 Today brought us into Oregon,  we stopped at a small bike shop called The Moto Shop in Bend, Oregon. This bike shop was a massive help to us fixing many problems on my bike. They also provided much needed spare parts that had been used already on the trip. While we were there someone recommended a road called the cascade lake highway. This was a very nice road that took us into the mountains and got us out of the heat. We followed that road to Crater Lake, this lake was formed from a volcanic explosion over 7000 years ago. The water in the lake is considered to be the purest in the world. The lake is the deepest in the US at 2000 feet deep. We stayed at a nearby lake called diamond lake.  

08-08-18 After leaving Sun Vally we headed into the mountains of Sawtooth National Forest. We were enjoying the ride until we came across a roadblock with road closed posted on it. We went around of course with hopes it was passable with motorcycles. Shortly after we discovered the road was completely washed away by a large river that was much too deep to ride across. This was the only road through the mountains in the direction we needed to go. After nearly an hour of trying to find alternate routes we met a group of local riders. They informed us that we would have to ride back to where we came from and go nearly 70 miles south to get back the the trail. This hindered us to a 125 miles gained on the day even after riding for over 10 hours. We stopped in Boise for the night.

08-07-18 Today I woke up to a dead battery. Getting the jumper cables and waiting for a charge set us back an hour or so.However, the ride today brought some much needed new scenery. The flat plains turned to rolling mountains. We rode from American Falls to Sun Valley, ID. Sun Valley was a very nice town in a mountain valley. We noticed a small fork seal leak on my bike.

08-06-18 The ride from Wendover, UT to  American Falls, ID was very long and boring.  300 miles of flat, straight and sandy roads. We did run across what we believed to be a military training site. There were 600 bottles of water, Gatorade, food and bathrooms but no one was there. We stopped on the snake river to camp. Oh, we also saw a boat in the middle of the desert…

08-05-18 We left Ephraim early this morning with intent to go as far as we could. We ended up going 100 miles over the planned day. We traveled over 400 miles in 11 hours. We went through a stretch of over 200 miles of seeing nothing other than sand. We stopped in a town called Wendover which is only miles away from the Bonneville salt flats. We rode on some smaller flats that will be on the YouTube channel soon.

08-04-18 Last night camping was very hot staying in the 80’s all night. We woke up to a yellow jacket swarm building a nest on dad’s bike. We knocked the nest off and ran. We rode from the desert to mountains of Utah. We got some cool drone footage along the way. We ended up in a town called Ephraim where we restocked supplies for a long journey of nothingness through western Utah.
